What's in the Hisense range?
Hisense's residential range lists wall mounted splits in the X5 Series and Air Q Series, ducted systems in Air Q Premium Ducted and Air Q Compact Ducted, and a multi-split bulkhead indoor unit. The company behind it, Hisense Australia Pty Ltd, is based in Scoresby, Victoria.
Hisense's Find a Dealer page takes your postcode and then a quote request. We're separate from that: we're not a Hisense dealer, and with us your job is seen by licence-checked local installers instead, with your contact details going only to the one who takes it.
How do I lock in 7 years on a Hisense?
Photograph both serial plates on install day
Hisense asks for the model and serial numbers of the indoor and the outdoor unit when you claim the 7 years. They're easiest to reach while the installer is still there.
Keep the original tax invoice
Hisense wants a copy of it. If you're only handed a receipt or a docket, ask for the tax invoice.
Register online within 6 months
The clock runs from the purchase date, not the install date. Buy early and install late, and you've got less time than you think.
Make sure it's a home install
The extension needs the product installed in a domestic human comfort application. In plain terms, heating and cooling people in a home.
Is the 7 year offer permanent?
Hisense's residential page describes the 7-year warranty as "for a limited time", while the current terms show no end date. Confirm it applies on the day you buy, then register straight away so the question doesn't matter.
Who should install a Hisense?
Hisense's extension terms are about registration, and we couldn't confirm its current installer conditions from Hisense directly. The law fills the gap. The ARC says a refrigerant handling licence is needed to install a pre-charged split, and a multi-split needs the full RAC01 licence rather than the restricted RSS03. State plumbing and electrical licences apply on top.
In practice you want a split and ducted specialist who handles several brands a week and will write the serial numbers on your invoice without being asked.
What's on you, and what's on the installer
You can
- Register the product online and keep the confirmation.
- Store the tax invoice with the manual, which you'll find at the Hisense Support Centre.
- Clean the filters as the manual describes.
Leave to a licensed installer
- Installing and commissioning both units.
- Any refrigerant work, now or later.
- The electrical connection and any new circuit.
- Recording both serial numbers on the invoice, if you ask.
Ask before you book a Hisense install
- Will the tax invoice show the model and serial numbers of both units?
- Is the date on the invoice the purchase date Hisense will use?
- For a multi-split, does the technician hold an RAC01 licence?
- Who gives me the electrical and plumbing paperwork at the end?
- What's your own workmanship warranty on the install?
What we'd do
Where we'd start
Register on install day, not someday. It takes a few minutes with the invoice and both serial numbers in front of you, and it turns 5 years into 7. Before that, we'd book a split or ducted specialist who'll put those details on the invoice for you, because that's exactly what Hisense asks for later.
