Who pays us, and for what
Installers in our network pay us for each job we pass on. How much, and how it's worked out: installer pricing model.
We don't sell heating or cooling units, and we're not any brand's dealer. Our brand pages report what each brand says about itself, and say so.
This page describes the arrangement in plain terms. The legal wording is still being checked: lawyer review.
What our fee means for your quote
The installer sets their own prices, and we don't. Our fee is one of their business costs, like their advertising or their van, and like any cost it can find its way into what they charge. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
It's also why we'd always get a second quote on a big job, wherever it comes from. Your details going only to the installer who takes the job keeps your phone quiet. It doesn't stop you comparing.
Who sees your details
Local installers who do your kind of job see the job, your first name and your suburb, and if none of them has taken it after 48 hours, installers elsewhere in your state may see it too. The first to take it gets your contact details so they can contact you about that job, and only that installer gets them. We don't sell or rent your details, and we don't pass them to a second installer unless you ask us to.
The businesses that run our website, forms and messages handle your details on our behalf: service providers. Our privacy policy covers what we keep and for how long.
The Privacy Act pays close attention to this kind of arrangement. A small business that hands on personal information in return for a benefit is covered by the Act unless the person has consented. Installers pay us for jobs, so your contact details only go to an installer with your consent, given on the form when you send your job.
What you agree to when you send a job
You're agreeing to Blufire sharing your details with one local aircon technician, the one who takes your job, so they can contact you about this job by phone, email or text. You can end that consent by telling the installer to stop calling.
If your job could involve a Victorian Energy Upgrades discount, the accredited provider who does the job and creates the certificates will confirm with you before any visit. We don't work for the VEU program, the Essential Services Commission or the Victorian Government. VEU discounts come from private accredited providers, and the program is voluntary.
Your rights sit with the installer
The quote, the contract and the warranty are between you and the installer. The Australian Consumer Law guarantees that services are done with due care and skill and that goods are of acceptable quality, and a contract term can't take those guarantees away.
Asking for a quote doesn't stop a deal from being an unsolicited one. If an installer negotiates and you sign during their visit, you may have a 10 business day cooling-off period. Our guide to cooling-off rights explains when it applies.

- You can say no to any quote, and get other quotes as well.
What we'd do
What we'd do
When the installer who takes your job gets in touch, note their business name and look up their licence before they visit. On a bigger job, get a second quote too, from anywhere you like. A good installer won't mind, and we certainly don't.
