If it's a safety emergency
If you suspect carbon monoxide from a gas heater, Energy Safe Victoria says to leave the house straight away and get into fresh air, turn off the gas appliances and open windows and doors, then call Nurse-on-Call, see a doctor, or dial 000 in an emergency. Leave the heater off until a qualified gasfitter has looked at it. If an air conditioner is sparking or smells of burning, switch it off at the isolator or the switchboard if you can do so safely, and don't touch the wiring.
About a new job
Use the quote form. Local, licence-checked installers who do that kind of work see the job, and your contact details go only to whichever one takes it. A job no local installer has taken after 48 hours may also be shown to installers elsewhere in your state. Prefer to talk? phone number and hours.
About the installer who took your job
Tell the installer first, in writing, because the agreement and your consumer guarantees are with them. Then tell us at contact email, with your postcode, the job and the date. Our complaints page explains what happens next.

What we'd do
Our tip
When something's gone wrong, put it in writing with the date, the installer's business name, what was agreed and a couple of photos. It gets you a quicker, clearer answer, from the installer and from us.
