Who we are
Find My Aircon is run by Blufire Pty Ltd, which also runs the system that passes jobs from our form to installers. ABN and address: ABN and address. For anything about your personal information, contact privacy contact email.
What we collect
- What you tell us about the job: what you need, what's there now and when you'd like it done.
- Your postcode and suburb, and your street address if the form asks for it: whether the form asks for an address.
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- Photos, if you choose to add them: photo uploads on the form.
- The consent you give: that Blufire may share your details with one local aircon technician so they can contact you about this job, when you agreed, and which installer took the job.
- How people use the site, through Microsoft Clarity. It records clicks, scrolling and the pages viewed, and uses cookies to link the pages of one visit. It doesn't see anything typed into the site's forms or tools.
Why we collect it
To show your job to licence-checked local installers who do that kind of work, and to give your contact details to the one who takes it, so they can contact you about it. To check afterwards that they did, and how it went: follow-up messages. To deal with any complaint. And to keep the consent records the rules expect of us.
When you send the form, Google reCAPTCHA checks that a person is sending it, Blufire checks that your mobile number is real, and automated tools read your message to work out the size of the job.
If you'd rather not give us your details, that's fine, but we can't pass your job on without a way for the installer to reach you. Every guide and tool on the site works without them, and the tools run in your browser without sending anything to us.
Who sees what, and when
Licence-checked local installers who do your kind of job see the job you described, your first name and your suburb, but not your contact details. The first of them to take the job gets those, and only that installer does. If none of them takes it within 48 hours, installers elsewhere in your state may see the job too. The tick box you agree to when you send the form reads: 'I agree to Blufire sharing my details with one local aircon technician so they can contact me about this job.'
The service providers that host the site and send our emails and texts, who handle your details for us and for nothing else: service providers and where they store data. Some of Blufire's service providers are in the United States. Which ones, and what they hold: overseas disclosure.
We don't sell, rent or trade your details. Under the Privacy Act, a small business that discloses personal information for a benefit is covered by the Act unless the person consents, and installers pay us for jobs, so consent is the only basis on which we pass anything on. We'd also disclose information where the law requires it.
The consent records we keep
For each job we keep a record of what you agreed to, for which job, by which contact method and when, along with which installer took the job and when they got your details.
For a job that could involve a Victorian Energy Upgrades discount, the Essential Services Commission says the consent record must show who you are, the accredited provider you agreed to be contacted by, the activities, whether contact is by phone or a visit, when consent expires and any date you withdrew it. That's why we keep those details. The accredited provider who does a VEU job will confirm with you before any visit.
How long we keep your details and these records: retention periods.
Messages from us
The Spam Act says commercial emails and texts need your consent, must say accurately who they're from, and must carry an unsubscribe option that works. We only send you marketing if you've agreed to it, and every message has a way out.
If you unsubscribe, the rules give a business no more than 5 working days to take you off its list. You can do it any time on our unsubscribe page.
Keeping it safe
Australian Privacy Principle 11 asks us to take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference and loss. What we do: security measures.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, on our privacy request page. Once an installer has taken your job, they hold their own copy of your details, so ask them as well.
Privacy complaints
Tell us first at privacy contact email, and we'll answer in writing: privacy complaint response time. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
What we'd do
Before you press send
Only give what the job needs. Installers read the job description before one of them takes it, so leave out anything you'd only tell the one who comes. Anything extra, like a good time to visit or where the meter box is, you can tell the installer yourself once you've spoken.
