What does TECO sell?
TECO's appliances site lists single split systems in its Platinum 3D Series, plus multi-split, ducted, cassette, portable and window wall air conditioners. The Find a stockist tool searches 5 to 100 km around an address and filters by product type, with a separate commercial wholesale category.
For help choosing, TECO's FAQ sends you to "Your TECO retailer or installer". We're neither, and we don't sell TECO units. Our part is matching the install with one licence-checked local installer.
Which TECO warranty do I have?
| Bought before 30 June 2025 | Bought after 1 July 2025 | |
|---|---|---|
| High-wall split | 5 years | 7 years |
| Multi-head split | 5 years | 7 years |
| Ducted split | 5 years | 7 years |
That's from TECO's domestic warranty document, a file created on 9 October 2025. The date on your receipt decides which column you're in, so keep the receipt somewhere safe.
How do I buy a TECO and the install separately?
Line up the installer first
Some installers won't fit a unit you've bought yourself, and a good one will check the size and the outdoor spot before you buy. Our size calculator gives you a starting point.
Buy from an authorised TECO reseller
TECO's warranty excludes products that weren't. A marketplace listing from an unknown seller can cost you the cover.
Have a licensed technician fit it
TECO states: "All TECO splits must be installed by a licensed technician." That means an ARC refrigerant licence at the least, plus your state's plumbing and electrical licences.
Keep the receipt and the install paperwork together
One proves the purchase date, the other proves who installed it.
What the TECO warranty won't cover
- Problems linked to relocating the air conditioner, so moving house with it is a risk.
- Units in caravans, relocatable homes or boats.
- Weathering of paintwork or metalwork from corrosive air. TECO's outdoor coils have what it calls Gold Fin Protection, an anti-corrosion coating, but it gives no rule about distance from the sea.
What you can do yourself
You can
- Measure the room before you shop, so you're buying the right size.
- Confirm the stockist is an authorised TECO reseller before you pay.
- Check error codes in the user manual, which TECO links from each product page.
- Clean the filters as that manual describes.
Leave to a licensed installer
- Fitting both units and running the refrigerant pipework.
- The electrical connection and any new circuit.
- Moving a TECO to another room or house.
- Working out a fault the error codes don't explain.
Questions for whoever installs your TECO
- Do you install units the customer has bought, and does that change your workmanship warranty?
- What licences do you hold for this job, and what's your RTA number?
- Is this size right for the room, and where will the outdoor unit go?
- Which certificates will I receive when you finish?
What we'd do
What we'd do
Before buying a TECO in a store, we'd find the installer and have them confirm the size and where the outdoor unit can sit. Then buy that model from an authorised TECO reseller, keep the dated receipt, and let a split specialist who's happy fitting customer-supplied units do the rest.
