Water on three sides
Tallebudgera Creek, the Coral Sea and Currumbin Creek bound the suburb, with the Pacific Motorway along the western edge.
A protected shore
Seawalls and training walls went in at the creek mouths between 1973 and 1981, and the 2019 Palm Beach Shoreline Project added beach nourishment and an artificial reef for coastal protection.
Growing, and mixed
Palm Beach grew from 14,654 people in 2016 to 16,349 in 2021. Houses were 40.9% of homes, flats 38.4% and townhouses 19.8%.
Renters and storms
37.0% of homes were rented, and Palm Beach was on the disaster assistance list after the Christmas 2023 storms.

At the Bureau's Coolangatta station, to the south, January averages a top of 28.6 degrees and July a low of 10.0. Cooling does most of the work.
Repair or replace a salty outdoor unit?
Surface rust on the casing isn't always the end. Corrosion on the coil, the fins or the mounting bracket is more serious, because a corroded coil can leak and a weakened bracket can let the unit shift in a storm.
