Mernda sits on the edge of metropolitan Melbourne, 26 km north of the city, with the Plenty River as its eastern boundary.
The jobs that come up in a Mernda house
The first proper service. A ducted system that went in with the house can run for years without anyone looking at it. ActronAir's warranty terms set residential maintenance at once every 12 months, so check your own brand's conditions before you skip one. A gas ducted heater needs a gasfitter at least every two years, Energy Safe Victoria says.
Adding cooling to gas heating. If the builder fitted heating only, an add-on cooling unit may use the same ducts. Rinnai says it depends on the heater's age, model, capacity and the condition of the ducts. See add-on cooling.
Zoning a four-bedroom home. Running the whole house to cool one room wastes power. Zone dampers let a ducted system heat or cool only the areas you choose. Our zoning page explains the limits.
